PavilionNOW 2016 – 2018 Design innovation with sustainable delivery. PavilionNOW was an annual project combining art, design/architecture and economy to realise capacity building and placemaking dynamics through the design and build of, plus programming for, unique pavilions. Each year, after an extended review of talent, a promising Malaysian architect/designer was invited to empathetically design a structure at the Advisory's award winning Gallery Residence. The annual brief included that the pavilion should complement the Gallery Residence's fundamental commitment to sustainable living and green architecture. The annual construction of each pavilion - with creativity, economy and innovation - has influenced a generation of audiences with varied interests, including children and adults, to utilise sustainable, locally produced materials and celebrate local design expertise. Further enhancement of message was through quality activities in and around the pavilions, including concerts, installations, poetry readings, art hug sessions and talks, extensive press coverage and documentation.
