| VISION CULTURE ART RESIDENCY: |
| |
The VISION CULTURE Residency aims to develop artistic interactions and experiences through varied cultural environments in and dialogues with SE Asia and Asia. The Residency is housed in Shalini Ganendra Fine Art’s Gallery Residence (an award winning green space designed by architectural luminary, Ken Yeang), and offers shared studio space, public lecture and exhibition spaces, and resource centre.
The VC Residency period runs for a minimum of 2 months, (+exhibition) and is for one mid-career artist at a time. The cross-cultural focus of the Residency encourages VC Residents to engage with local artists, either before or at the inception of the Residency, to develop and present a collaborative project (installation or exhibition) during the VC Resident’s tenure. Alternatively, the VC Resident can explore a solo project and develop an exhibition accordingly, which will then be presented at Gallery Residence. The VC Resident and residency exhibition will have dedicated coverage on SGFA’s website.
The VC Resident is expected to interact with the local community through workshops and/or lectures and to participate in at least one session of the ART HUG CSR program for children.
Applications are open for the first Vision Culture Residency, (December 2011 – March 2012), and should be received by August 7, 2012. Decision will be made by September 5, 2012 and the successful candidate informed thereafter.
The successful applicant is responsible for: obtaining any visas (as necessary), cost of travel, living expenses and cost of materials. (Estimated living expenses for food, travel within Kuala Lumpur, US $300/month).
