| Dr Pieris is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning, University of Melbourne. She is the author of Hidden Hands and Divided Landscapes: A penal history of Singapore's plural society (Hawaii University Press, 2009); Imagining Modernity: The Architecture of Valentine Gunasekara (2007); JCY: The Architecture of Jones Coulter Young (2005) and co-author (with P. Goad) of New Directions in Tropical Asian Architecture (2005). She has degrees from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka; MIT (USA) and a PhD from UC Berkeley (USA). |

| CHRISTOPHER PHILLIPS has been the curator at the International Center of Photography in New York City since 2000. In 2004, he and Wu Hung of the University of Chicago organised the first major U.S. exhibition of Chinese contemporary photography, "Between Past and Future: New Photography and Video from China." In recent years he has curated such exhibitions as "Atta Kim: On-Air" (2006), "Shanghai Kaleidoscope" (2008), "Heavy Light: Recent Photography and Video from Japan" (2008), “H20: Art on the Horizon of Nature” (2010), and “Wang Qingsong: When Worlds Collide” (2011). He has also served as a member of the curatorial team that organized the 2003, 2006, and 2009 editions of the ICP Triennial of Contemporary Photography and Video. In addition, he is an adjunct faculty member at New York University, where he teaches classes in the history and criticism of photography. |

Dr SUSAN COCHRANE , as a renowned curator, researcher and writer specialising in contemporary Aboriginal and Pacific art, presents an approachable understanding of aboriginal art as practised in a vital and contemporary context. She will discuss researching/curating/project managing exhibitions of Indigenous art for international exhibition, working from remote locations like Papua New Guinea and Elcho Island.
Susan is an established curator of major exhibitions of Pacific art and has published extensively on contemporary art of the Oceanic region. She is currently with the Elcho Island Arts in Arnhem Land, which is the heartland of superb artistic traditions of the Yolgnu people. Her present commitment is promoting fine art by prominent Australian Aboriginal artists to international audiences.

| An Intimate Relationship with the World - ANTOINE D'AGATA |

ANTOINE D’AGATA: Magnum Photographer, D’Agata’s first books of photographs, "De Mala Muerte" and "Mala Noche", were published in 1998. In 2001 he published "Hometown", and won the Niépce Prize for young photographers. "Vortex" and "Insomnia" appeared in 2003, accompanying his exhibition "1001 Nuits"; "Stigma" was published in 2004, and "Manifeste" in 2005. In 2004 D'Agata joined Magnum Photos and in the same year, shot his first short film, "Le Ventre du Monde" (The World's Belly); this experiment led to his long feature film, "Aka Ana", shot in Tokyo in 2006. He has been exhibited internationally at galleries and festivals including Rencontres d’Arles, Noorderlicht, FotoFreo and The Photographers Gallery, London, and Musée Nicéphore Niépce in Chalon sur Saône.
