OUT OF THE BOX
July 11 – August 31, 2008

To operate 'out of the box' is a frequently used phrase, denoting difference, new perspectives and unconventional paths. Successful thinking and action "out of the box" is challenging, envigourating and formidable - differentiating the ordinary from the extraordinary.

The theme for the exhibition, Out of the Box, was selected by guest curator, Eric Peris, specifically to challenge. Eight of Malaysia's top photographers were invited to participate - with a view to engaging in new focuses. (The title also appropriately refers to the box camera - a grandfather of current photographic technology.)

The exhibition will reinforce how far photography has come with the development of technology and the presentation of ideas, while also involving new perspectives for the individual artists. All images have been created over a 4 month period , specifically for this exhibition.
