Gallery Weekend Kuala Lumpur is a novel, annual 4-day celebration of aesthetic and cultural diversity in Malaysia’s capital city. Having launched successfully in 2016, GWKL brings together galleries, institutions, dining, stay and other partners across Greater Kuala Lumpur.

GWKL offers a unique inter-disciplinary programme, which sees collaborations between textile museums, contemporary art galleries and restaurants. Now partnering with international gallery weekends, including Brussels and Barcelona, GWKL works to promote Malaysia’s dynamic scene, whilst creating connections across the globe.

SGA champions the development of mind and spirit through dynamic engagement. Our long standing ArtHug initiative provides creative encounters for enabling and thoughtful personal development.

Through art-inspired modules, children are introduced to exciting perspectives on art practises and contemporary art movements. They participate in discussions on the relevance of creativity for individual and community. Art Hug allows exploration of environment, community, and person, colourfully and verbally,  nurturing empowerment and confidence. Past sessions have been led by renowned personalities including: curators Michiko Kasaharo and Kelly Gellatly,  architect Gregory Burgess, and artists Isa Ho, Ru Yi Tann, and Chin Kon Yit.

The Vision Culture Lectures (‘VC Lectures’) launched in 2010 with the endorsement of the UNESCO Observatory, as a semi-annual program to energise multi-disciplinary exchange, hosting a series of international luminaries (curators, architects, artists and other cultural thought-leaders) for public talks and discussions.

Past segments of the VC Lectures have been supported by: HSBC Malaysia, the Australian High Commission,  British Council and other notable institutions.

UNESCO published a selection of contributions by the speakers as its Arts in Asia Issue 2016.
