POW Ideas, an award-winning, KL-based architecture firm designed and assembled a dynamic pavilion made entirely from coconut fibre, known as ‘coir’. The COIR Pavilion was the materialisation of POW Ideas’ exploration of natural materials and it demonstrated alternative uses for the material. The compressed coir was fabricated into specific shapes, which were connected to each other as interlocking puzzle pieces.

The final structure engaged dynamically with environment, and has offered exciting new domestic and public applications for coconut fibre.
