LILENG WONG (b.1967 Malaysia)
Lileng Wong was captivated by the art of clay and pottery during her childhood in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. She spent numerous hours experimenting with clay at her father's workplace, a red brick factory. Wong is adept with numerous firing techniques, including, Gas , Smoke and Raku.
Her first critically acclaimed body of work explored the "in between" areas of space and mass, a continuing exploration. She has created series of ceramic tapestries which present object groupings, hanging from a leveller, each object positioned with intent and specificity.
